 Tutorial for Corn husk Flowers.

Now very first Tutorial ! Corn husk flowers can be made in many shapes and sizes ,colors..I am sharing the steps I  followed while making these.

1.These are dried corn husks i used .

2.Cut petals .

3.The petals look flat.So give them some dimension by a embossing tool or with fingers. This has to be done gently or the husk will tear off. The petals after embossing look like this...

4.Color the edges you can color full petals also.cut out a small base and fringed flower for center of flower.

5.paste the petals on the base.I used 5 petals for larger flower and 3 for smaller one.

6.To shape the flower place on a sponge and press it at center.

7.Finally paste a fringed flower at center.You can use anything a button,bead.

Done with flowers  ! Similarly I made leaves for the card.Do tell me if you like it !

Purple Tulips

I saw tutorial for paper tulips here.Followed it for making  tulips only difference is that these are not made of paper !

The flowers and leaves are made of dried corn skins.Initially I was going to make paper tulips ,then i spotted these dried corn husks which I had kept for drying few days back. They have texture like crepe paper and transparency like butter paper.I cut out petals ,leaves and then colored them purple and green .Finished of with silver ribbon and a bow, button and a metal bead .sentiment is handwritten.A big Thank You to Chris and Manulea for  their useful tips and suggestions.

Purple,Yellow and Pink

Take a look at the yellow triangles ...

Don't they look different when card is opened.....?

I have cut out small triangles on card front and pasted yellow colored sheet inside . The purple and pink flowers are based on tutorial by Chris(Journey into Quilling and  Paper Crafting).I have also scored slanting cross lines at center part of card to give light embossed look.Added some pink fringed flowers .

With my short experience of participation in various challenges one thing I have realized, that is my creations lack something ! I am trying to improve ...but I need your help..tell me what i need to do so that my cards look better ..

Till then I will keep on trying so ...Entering for:

Black,White and Green Card

When I read the challenge Black, white and one more color and this snap came to my mind instantly.

This picture was taken last year .I know only one name of this bird  "Dayal" ,don't know what its called in other parts.I just loved the black and white bird on green backdrop.I always get inspiration from my garden be it color combination or concept for card.So I decided do make a card based on this snap. Here it is ..

I stamped  green background with a leaf .The bird was cut out of black velvet paper and white
chart paper and embossed it slightly to give fuller look .Finally added a white tail feather (again from my garden). The sentiment is computer generated. It did not turn out as good as the original image ! After all Nature is greatest artist !

Reusable Gift Wrap

This gift wrap can be reused as its only tied around gift.(No glue or tape used !).

Many of us may be knowing it as potli  and others can recognize it as dumpling or momos shaped ! I have used two  paper sheets (from earlier gifts received  :) ! ) pink kite paper and golden wrapping paper.I cut both sheets in a circle .Did some paper cutting on pink paper to have some pattern(the small diamonds) and made petals at ends. Then placed them one above the other kept gift box at center and folded the papers together and tied with a golden string.Attached small flowers at end of the string ! That's it !

This used to be ...Invitation card !

One more post with recycling/reusing theme !
As I make envelops out of invitation cards I have lots of them in my stash .Used one of them here along with golden paper from Tea packing. These are the materials used..

before
I made a Washi doll bookmark out of these.

I had seen lots of tutorial to make Washi doll on internet took inspiration from them. All the materials used are from invitation cards except the golden paper. The red net used for kimono is also from card just backed it with  pink paper so that  I can fold them properly.I am going to use her as bookmark so didn't accessorize her to keep it flat .
